  • To act as a member of a profession

The education is aimed so that students gain, among other things, the following knowledge and skills:

  • To base their practice on knowledge, theory and research
  • To work in a team with clients and other health professionals
  • To participate as a member and leader of interdisciplinary health teams
  • To advocate the health system for the use of the sick
  • To evaluate the expected result of the nursing care
  • To participate in research and make use of the findings
  • To take on the responsibility for continued training and to plan the development of their professional career.

Training

The academic content is structured into areas, modules and learning subjects.

  • Basic nursing care area: This includes basic nursing knowledge, aspects of the professional role and communication and also work methodology.
  • Specialised nursing care area: This includes specific aspects of the development of the role of the nurse in their fields of action.
  • Medical sciences area: This includes knowledge of the structure and functioning of the human being, both physiological as well as psychological, as well as the bases of pathology needed for the correct development of the nurse's role.
  • Social and research area: This area includes knowledge concerning the structure and social development in general and also more specific aspects concerning the health area. This area also covers knowledge concerned with research.

40% of the training is theoretical and the other 60% is practical. The theoretical part is traditional face-to-face teaching and is carried out in the Nursing School. The practical part takes place over the three years at health centres and health institutions in Andorra and abroad to put into practice the knowledge and to acquire work experience.
