The University

  /  The University

The University of Andorra (UdA) is the public university in the Principality of Andorra, a microstate located in the heart of the Pyrenees. Higher education in the country began in 1988 with the creation of the School of Nursing and the School of Computer Science, giving rise to the University of Andorra, whose campus has been located in the centre of Sant Julià de Lòria since 2004.

Its mission is to give a quality response to the needs of Andorran society in higher education and research, and to train people in order to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to quickly and successfully enter the working world. For this reason, more than 90% of degree holders find work before finishing their studies or during their first month of research, according to the labour insertion studies done by the Agència de Qualitat de l’Ensenyament Superior d’Andorra (Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education of Andorra).

The University’s strengths are personalised student attention, the promotion of lifelong learning and an educational model with study programmes based on the achievement of competences by means of overcoming challenges. Annually, the UdA enrols nearly 700 students in official degree programmes and more than 1,400 in continuous education programmes.

Throughout its history, the University of Andorra has grown in training and research at a sustainable rate, and it now offers academic degrees at all three university levels (bachelor, master and doctorate). The qualifications offered for first cycle (3-year bachelor’s degrees – 180 European credits), second cycle (2-year master’s degrees – 120 European credits) and third cycle (doctoral degree), on-campus and online, are mainly in the fields of technology, business, health, education and laws. All taught degrees are adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) framework and recognized by participating countries.

International relations are one of the UdA’s priorities, as well as the mobility programmes for incoming and outgoing students and staff. For this reason it has signed cooperation agreements with about forty universities around the world and it ensures that the official courses on offer have a semester taught in English.
