UdA strengthens cooperation with the University of Perpignan

The Rector of the University of Andorra, Juli Minoves, accompanied by the Vice-Rector, Josep Fortó, paid an institutional visit to the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (UPVD) on Friday, 18 September, with the aim of strengthening the relationship between the two institutions and exploring new avenues for collaboration, particularly in the field of cross-border research.
The UdA delegation was welcomed by the President of the UPVD, Yvan Auguet, and the Vice-President for International and Cross-Border Relations, Laurent Cavaignac. During the visit, they toured various university facilities, including the Faculty of Law and Economics at the Mailly campus, as well as the business incubator and the Bioenvironnement platform at the Moulin-à-Vent campus.
Cross-border research featured prominently in the discussions held during the visit. The two universities expressed their intention to establish working arrangements to identify and develop joint research projects in this field, as well as to explore new opportunities for collaboration on European projects. In this regard, they aim to move towards three-way cooperation that would also involve the University of Girona, with the aim of leveraging the geographical proximity and research capabilities of the three institutions to promote joint projects. The meeting also concluded with an agreement that the Rector of the UPVD will make an institutional visit to Andorra in the near future.
In addition, Juli Minoves and Josep Fortó attended the official opening ceremony of the academic year at Toulouse Capitole University, held on 17 September. The ceremony’s guest of honour was Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the French National Assembly and a former student of the university, who delivered the inaugural address. As part of the ceremony, the Rector of the UdA took part in the presentation of the Academic Palms and had the opportunity to speak with Braun-Pivet, as well as with the Rector of the Occitanie academic region, Carole Drucker-Godard.
