The IURS launches its first call for project proposals

The Institute for Health Research (IURS) of the University of Andorra (UdA) has launched its first call for research project proposals. The call is open to individuals and to universities, research institutions and companies, both national and international, wishing to carry out research related to healthy ageing, health promotion and prevention, the diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases, or epidemiology and public health. Projects must run for between one and three years from the date of their admission to the IURS.

The call has a total budget of €67,500, with a maximum of €22,500 per year. In addition to direct funding, applicants may request access to the UdA’s scientific and technological support services, including experimental design, the use of specialised laboratory equipment, data management, biostatistical support, scientific writing and the facilitation of external funding.

Applications can be submitted until 25 January 2027 by email to iurs@uda.ad, together with all the documentation specified in the call guidelines. Applications will be assessed by a committee comprising at least three people holding doctoral degrees, based on criteria including strategic relevance, scientific quality, feasibility, social impact in Andorra, collaboration with other research institutions and complementary funding.

2026–2030 Strategic Plan

Coinciding with the launch of the funding call, the IURS has also published its Strategic Plan for 2026–2030. This roadmap sets out the institute’s growth priorities around four main areas: excellence in research, consolidation as a platform for scientific support services, the development of strategic national and international partnerships, and governance based on ethics and sustainability.

Key actions set out in the plan include the promotion of the Andorra Longevity Programme and the creation of the Andorra Longevity Cohort, a longitudinal initiative designed to analyse the interaction between biological, environmental and social determinants.
