NUSCT discusses the role of universities in small territories
A delegation from the University of Andorra, led by Rector Juli Minoves, participated in the annual meeting of the Network of Universities of Small Countries and Territories (NUSCT). This year’s meeting, the seventh edition, took place at the University of the Faroe Islands (Denmark) and included the network’s first academic conference, where around fifteen presentations addressed the role of universities in small-scale societies. Representing Andorra, Montserrat Casalprim, a member of the Interdisciplinary Research Group in Education, spoke about the University of Andorra’s role as a driver of social mobility and employability.
During the rectors’ meeting, it was decided that the University of Akureyri (Iceland) would continue to chair the network for another year. In addition, Andorra proposed that a future NUSCT conference address the role of universities in small states and territories in promoting peace, tolerance and human rights.
The NUSCT was launched in 2018 by the University of Andorra and currently brings together twelve universities from eleven territories: Andorra, Gibraltar, Greenland, Åland Islands, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Malta, Montenegro, San Marino and Cyprus. The next rectors’ meeting will take place at the University of Montenegro in spring 2026.
