Rector’s welcome

  /    /  Rector’s welcome

Juli Minoves, rector of the University of Andorra (Facu Santana/BonDia)

I welcome you to the University of Andorra (UdA), a leading institution of higher education in the Principality of Andorra, confidently moving towards its 40th anniversary.

In 2024, I assumed the position of Rector of the UdA with the responsibility of guiding the future of my country’s public university. It is admirable the social role that the UdA has played since its inception in 1988. Since that date, more than 7,000 university degrees have been awarded, which has contributed to transforming the lives of thousands of students, offering them better employment opportunities. In fact, more than 94% of graduates find work shortly after completing their studies, according to studies carried out by AQUA (Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education of Andorra) and the ministry responsible for higher education.

The University of Andorra is distinguished by its high teaching and research quality and its commitment to openness to the world, sharing objectives with numerous international organizations to which it belongs, such as the Vives University Network in the Catalan-speaking area, the Ibero-American University Council, or the Francophone University Association, where I represent the rectors of Western Europe as vice president. Furthermore, in 2018, the University of Andorra spearheaded the NUSCT, the network of universities of small countries and territories. As a public university, the UdA has the mission of responding to the training and knowledge expansion needs of Andorran society, both through regulated studies and continuous training courses.

The UdA offers a range of programmes across the three academic cycles of university education (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees), as well as a short two-year programme, the Advanced Professional Diploma. First-cycle degrees –Bachelor’s degrees– are 3 years (180 European credits) and second-cycle degrees –Master’s degrees– are 2 years (120 European credits). The offer includes both on campus and online training, primarily in the fields of technology, business, health, education, and law. All degrees offered are adapted to the guidelines of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and recognized in the countries that are part of it.

Research is also one of the central pillars of the UdA, which has a quality Doctoral programme and a team of around forty researchers working mainly in the fields of education, languages, health, economics, law, and technology. In 2025, the Institute for Health Research was created, and research was boosted in history, political science, international relations, and the EU.

However, the primary purpose of the UdA is the student community. Therefore, the UdA’s main strengths are personalized student support, the promotion of lifelong learning, and an educational model based on the achievement of competencies through problem-solving. Each year, the UdA has nearly 700 students in official degree programmes and exceeds a thousand in continuing education.

As Rector of the University of Andorra and President of the University Council, I invite you to discover our institution through the information you will find on this website, and I place myself at your disposal, whether you want to begin your academic journey with us or if you are already part of our university community.
