UdA launches a master’s degree in Data Analytics

In the academic year 2023–24, the University of Andorra (UdA) will launch a new master’s course in Data Analytics, once it has been accredited by the Higher Education Quality Agency of Andorra (AQUA, by its acronym in Catalan) and the Andorran government has approved its curriculum.

The master’s degree in Data Analytics seeks to respond to the growing demand for qualified professionals who can extract knowledge and value from the data generated by our society through the use of information and communication technologies. It is aimed at profiles who wish to obtain a high-level qualification in the identification, capture, preparation, analysis, interpretation and visualisation of data, in order to generate a competitive advantage and assist any organisation in the decision-making process.

The new programme corresponds to a second-cycle university degree, with a credit load of 120 European credits (2 years), in a blended and online format, so that students can combine their studies with work. Of the 120 total credits, 90 are compulsory and 30 are elective. The elective credits can be used for international mobility purposes or to acquire specialist competencies in order to achieve a minor in Data Science or in Business Analytics.

The programme will follow the new UdA educational model: a competency-based methodology that eliminates the traditional idea of subjects. The course is divided into modules, within which students will overcome a challenge through guided work, individual work and seminars. This way, they will gradually achieve the learning outcomes that lead to the development of specific and transferable competencies.

The Master of Data Analytics is aimed at anyone who has completed a first-cycle university degree in the fields of computer science, business science, economics, data science, engineering, statistics or mathematics; it can therefore provide further studies for holders of the University of Andorra’s bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business Administration.

Graduates will be able to join the job market as data analysts (in the area of finance, marketing operations, logistics and operations, or human resources, for example) or analytics, business intelligence or data science managers or consultants, among other roles. Furthermore, the qualification provides access to doctoral studies, thus helping to promote research in this field and to retain and attract talent in Andorra.
