What can we do at the UdA to promote health and well-being

The University of Andorra has launched the third SDG Competition, dedicated this year to Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on health and well-being. The 2024 edition of the competition is called ‘What can we do at the UdA to promote health and well-being (SDG 3)?’ and will reward the best initiatives applicable to the institution that benefit health and well-being. This is a priority area for the UdA, especially given the upcoming launch of the new Master of Health, which will produce health promotion professionals and nurses specialising in advanced mental health or chronic disease care practice.

The goal of this latest edition of the competition is to cultivate initiatives that can contribute to the health and well-being of the university community, and by extension, of Andorran society as a whole. For example, the presented ideas and projects may be related to mental health, emotional well-being, ageing, chronic conditions, promotion of healthy habits, addiction prevention or sexual and reproductive health.

The competition is aimed at students undergoing official studies, at tenured, non-tenured and collaborating faculty, and at the UdA Alumni and UdA Activa groups, who will compete in two separate sets of participants. Participants may take part individually or in teams of three, and must register before 8 March 2024 and present their project before 19 April 2024, in accordance with the instructions detailed in the competition rules.

The jury, made up of representatives of different groups at the university and an external member, will announce its decision on 7 May 2024. The proposals will be assessed according to their technical quality, originality, viability, impact and compliance with the rules. The winning project in each set will be rewarded with computer equipment worth 600 euros for each member of the team.

Two sets of participants

  • Set 1: for students undergoing official studies registered at UdA for the 2023–2024 academic year.
  • Set 2: open to the rest of the university community, for tenured, non-tenured and collaborating UdA faculty and the UdA Alumni and UdA Activa groups.

Key dates

  • 8 March 2024: deadline for registering for the competition.
  • 19 April 2024: deadline for entering the competition.
  • 7 May 2024: jury’s decision and prize-giving.

Following the first two editions of the competition, dedicated to SDG 13 (climate action), the UdA has implemented several projects presented by the participants, including a set of energy-saving measures and other tips aimed at the university community and the installation of an automatic watering system in an allotment maintained by students. In addition, students undergoing official studies and tenured and non-tenured faculty have been given reusable water bottles, less advertising material has been printed, and plants have been bought to expand UdA’s green spaces, among other measures.
