UdA Renews Agreement with Berkeley

The University of Andorra (UdA) has renewed its agreement with the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), allowing UdA students to enrol as visiting students at one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. UC Berkeley, consistently ranked among the top universities globally and in the USA, is a public institution located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Established in 1878 and home to 22 Nobel laureates, it serves as the flagship campus of the ten-campus University of California system.

UdA Rector Juli Minoves, a Yale University PhD who has taught in California, signed the agreement with the UC Berkeley Regents on Thursday, 20 February, during the visit of the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy to Andorra, Rian Harris, and the US Consul General in Barcelona, Lia Miller. The visit coincided with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Principality of Andorra and the United States. The US diplomats signed UdA’s Book of Honour and met with the Academic Board, where the university’s strategic priorities and the operation of its various centres were presented.

The agreement allows UdA students to enrol in the Berkeley Summer Sessions, a summer programme offering over 600 courses across a wide range of disciplines. Approximately 16,000 students attend this summer university each year, around 5,000 of whom are visiting students. UdA is Berkeley Summer Sessions’ first partner in Andorra and is part of a network of seventy global partners. Additionally, an excellence scholarship will soon be offered to the top graduating student to benefit from this agreement.

Beyond this agreement, UdA has signed partnerships with 54 universities worldwide to promote international mobility. This enables UdA students to enrich their studies abroad and fosters the hosting of international students in Andorra. Currently, 320 mobility places are available, with applications open until 15 March 2025 for the first semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. Interested students can consult the application procedure via the university’s dedicated links.
